The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of India’s biggest national-level exams for engineering, science and technology graduates. GATE is conducted in partnership by seven IITs and IISc Bengaluru.

Eligibility for GATE 2026

The eligibility rules are simple and student-friendly.

✔ Educational Qualification

You can apply if you are:

  • In the final year of your bachelor’s degree

OR

  • Already completed your bachelor’s degree

Accepted degrees include:

  • BE / BTech
  • BArch
  • BSc (Research)
  • BPharm
  • BCA + MCA (integrated)
  • BS / MS
  • BSc / BA / BCom (as per updated rules)
  • Professional degrees like AMIE, GRADE-IETE

✔ Stream Flexibility

You can choose any GATE subject regardless of your bachelor’s degree.

There is no age limit for GATE.

Your GATE score is valid for three years.
