Coimbatore: Dairy farmers on Friday urged district collector Kranti Kumar Pati to take up their demand of increasing milk procurement price to the government’s notice, as dairying was no more a profitable work for them because of the increasing input cost. They were speaking at the monthly farmers grievance meeting at the district collector office.
Su Palanisamy, president, Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam, said the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’s Federation (Aavin) was procuring cow milk at 35 per litre and buffalo milk at 42 per litre.
“Prices of oil cake and fodder have gone up incrementally in the past few months. Hence, the price should be increased to 50 per litre for cow milk and 75 per litre for buffalo milk,” he said. TNN
